Southern Mustang Club Events 2003
Round the Mountain Run 6/7/03
I knew the day was going to be a little different when I had to kick over the
snowman to get the car out of the drive. Running late as usual I barely had time
to get out of the car before Roger said get back in we're off.
An easy pace to Riverton then Colac Bay the day was brisk & overcast with
snow on the road around Monkey Island a quick photo stop for me, then to
catch up with the others at Tuatapere , ten cars in all.
The drive winding thru the hills laden with snow & lying on either side
of the road made exciting going with grit spread on the bad bits. We were
away to Otautau Pub for lunch and very nice it was to. The cars were parked
either side of main st. After judging Best Overall was Buggy's 69 scj, Best
Paint Tim's 66, Best interior Doug's 70 Mach 1, the Publicans Choice
went to Clints 68.
After a natter I left, to be home in time to watch the Brute Utes, what a
day Thanks Vic.

Saturday 18th Jan 03: Cromwell Classic Car and Hot Rod Show
The first run for the year was to the Cromwell Classic Car & Hot Rod
Festival held on the 18th Jan 03.
Five of us left at 8.15am Sat morning ,others having left Thurs or
Friday, after a well paced trip via Frankton arrived at Cromwell about 11am in
glorious sunshine which just got hotter as the day went on. A vast array of cars
were soon formed about 128 or thereabouts and after a long HOT day ,two
Mustangs made the Top Ten, a Red 65 convertible owned by Shona Coory & a
Silver blue 66 convertible owned by M Ford (sorry no photo) both from
Dunedin. Others of interest a Hot Chilli Red 70 convertible from the Canterbury
Mustang owners club ,a Red 65 notch,a blue 66 GT convertible, a white 67
convertible & a Black 66 notch & plenty more but I had to put the one
with the sign in didnt I Vic!!
So after a meal at the Golden Gate Lodge we said our goodbyes and headed back
to Queenstown for the night. Hope everyone had a good trip home. Les &
Kathy.
